David Deal

Chief Executive Officer *

David is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Community IT Innovators (CITI). For David, CITI is an expression of his desire to serve people and organizations working for social justice by supporting them in using technology effectively. He has led the implementation of a business model that strives to meet this mission while also making CITI a great place to work and a model for sustainable business practices.

David has served on the Board of Directors and Advisory Boards of several organizations, including Sustainable Business Network of Washington (SBNOW), UrbanEd, EMU’s Washington Community Scholars Center, Carlos Rosario Public Charter School, and Byte Back.  All of these organizations build stronger communities by providing opportunities for service and learning, including some with a focus on technology training. Prior to CITI, David served in Mennonite Voluntary Service providing services for homeless persons at a nonprofit in D.C. David graduated with honors from the Duke University School of Engineering. When he is not watching Duke basketball, he is active in the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, Hyattsville Mennonite Church, and his local neighborhood.
